Halal Gourmet Summit 2023

Singapore leads the world in Halal fine dining with the inaugural Halal Gourmet Summit

First-ever event taps on market potential in Halal fine dining and shines spotlight on up-and-coming culinary talent

Singapore, 30 November 2022 – In the 2022 State of the Global Islamic Economy Report, Muslims have been estimated to spend US$2 trillion in 2021 across sectors such as food, cosmetics, fashion and travel, amongst others. Spending on Halal food reached US$1.27 trillion in 2021 and is expected to grow to US$1.67 trillion by 2025 at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 7.1 percent. This is supported by a fast-growing, young Muslim population, projected to rise to almost 2.8 billion in 2050, with the majority living in the Asia Pacific.

These young Muslims, eager and hungry to explore new gourmet experiences are driving the Halal economy. In fact, with consumers eager to reconnect socially and enjoy time dining out as social restrictions from the pandemic ease, interest in gourmet food and fine dining experiences, especially across Asia Pacific, is expected to increase.

Halal Gourmet Summit 2023

In light of this, a new event celebrating Halal gourmet food and fine dining experiences will be launched on 26 April 2023. A world-first, the Halal Gourmet Summit will bring together the best culinary talent in the global Halal food industry to Singapore, the leading gourmet capital in Southeast Asia. The event will be held at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre. Hosting a mix of renowned F&B brands and established chefs, it will bring the best of the world’s Halal fine dining to Asia.

Spread across five days, the summit presents consumers and trade visitors the opportunities to discover the best of the culinary best, welcome knowledge-sharing from renowned chefs and business owners, and experience innovative and creative halal cuisine. It will feature three groundbreaking showcases:
  • Halal SuperChef
  • Talking Gourmet
  • Halal High Life

Showcasing the best of the culinary best

The first-ever Halal gourmet culinary competition in Asia, Halal SuperChef is the arena where up-and-coming chefs will highlight the culinary skills and knowledge in a battle to become the first Halal SuperChef. Comprising five rounds, competitors will be cooking off to a variety of culinary styles and ingredients. Judges will include renowned Chefs in the region. The winner will receive SGD25,000 worth of prizes that include cash, a trophy and a cookbook deal, amongst others. Open to the public, the first preliminary round will kick off on 14-15 January 2023 in Singapore.

Inspiring entrepreneurs share their knowledge and creativity

From learning how to create and set up a gourmet Halal restaurant to business tips, established chefs and F&B business owners from the region will be sharing insider knowledge at Talking Gourmet. Masterclasses will also be conducted, with chefs offering their tips and expertise to young chefs or new business owners.

Gourmet dining experiences

At Halal High Life, visitors will indulge in the finest international Halal gourmet cuisine prepared with premium Halal ingredients sourced from all four corners of the world. They will dine in themed spaces set to enhance these experiences. Whether it is French or Turkish cuisine, Halal High Life will showcase pop-up gourmet restaurants and exclusive, creative gourmet options from renowned and up-and-coming chefs.

“The Halal Gourmet Summit taps on the market potential for Halal fine dining experiences. For too long, Muslim communities have had limited options when it comes to dining out, but with the growth in disposable income and the influence of social media, we are seeing more of the younger generation and GenX keen to try new experiences. Our event will showcase various gourmet options and will highlight emerging and established culinary talent with the creative flair for fine dining cuisine that both Muslim and non-Muslims will enjoy,” said Dan Razali, founding partner, Halal Gourmet Summit.

Tickets for the Halal Gourmet Summit will be available from 15 December 2022. For more information, please visit www.halalgourmetsummit.com.
