Minor Hotels Enters Morocco with Anantara Retreat Rabat Signing

The planned 38-key luxury retreat, developed with Bloom Holding, is scheduled to open in early 2030 and marks the Anantara brand’s first entry into Morocco.

Minor Hotels is expanding its luxury hospitality portfolio into North Africa with the signing of Anantara Retreat Rabat, a 38-key luxury property planned for Morocco’s capital. Developed in partnership with Abu Dhabi-based Bloom Holding, the project marks Minor Hotels’ debut in Morocco, with the hotel expected to open in early 2030.

The signing introduces the Anantara luxury hospitality brand to a new market and reflects Minor Hotels’ continued expansion across the Middle East and Africa.

Anantara Retreat Rabat to Combine Moroccan Heritage and Contemporary Luxury

Located in Rabat’s exclusive diplomatic district, approximately 20 minutes from the city centre, Anantara Retreat Rabat is being designed as an intimate luxury retreat that combines traditional Moroccan architectural influences with contemporary design.

The planned accommodation will comprise luxury rooms, suites and seven three-bedroom villas. Its location is intended to appeal to diplomatic visitors, corporate travellers and affluent leisure guests seeking a tranquil setting with access to the capital’s business and cultural destinations.

Facilities are expected to include a signature restaurant, a Moroccan tea lounge and a swimming pool. The development will also feature meeting rooms, an Anantara Spa and fitness facilities, positioning the property to serve both leisure and business travel segments.

Minor Hotels Partners with Bloom Holding

The project is being developed in collaboration with Bloom Holding, an Abu Dhabi-based real estate company with interests spanning residential, mixed-use, hospitality, education and master-planned communities in the UAE and international markets.

William E. Heinecke, Chairman and Founder of Minor International, the parent company of Minor Hotels, said Morocco represents an important new market for the group, with Rabat offering a compelling setting for its first hotel in the country.

He noted that Anantara Retreat Rabat would bring the brand’s approach to luxury hospitality to a destination where heritage, culture, nature and contemporary life intersect. He also highlighted the partnership with Bloom Holding and the ambition to create an intimate retreat reflecting Rabat’s character.

Carlos Wakim, CEO of Bloom Holding, said the partnership supports the company’s strategy of collaborating with established international hospitality operators to develop distinctive destinations.

He described Rabat as an opportunity to expand Bloom Holding’s international portfolio while bringing together global hospitality expertise, recognised brands and a shared commitment to quality and long-term value.

Rabat's Cultural Profile Supports Tourism Potential

Morocco’s capital is developing its profile as a cultural and tourism destination, combining historic landmarks and heritage with an evolving contemporary creative scene.

Rabat’s position between the Atlantic Ocean and the Bou Regreg River contributes to its distinctive setting. In 2026, the city holds the designation of UNESCO World Book Capital, highlighting its literary and cultural activities.

Morocco’s wider tourism performance and improving international air connectivity also form part of the market context for new hospitality investment. According to the figures cited in the project announcement, international tourist arrivals to Morocco increased by 7% in the first five months of 2026, while additional international air routes are strengthening access to Rabat.

These factors provide a broader backdrop for the planned development, although the hotel’s eventual performance will depend on market conditions, demand and execution closer to its anticipated opening.

Anantara Expands Its International Luxury Footprint

The signing of Anantara Retreat Rabat extends Minor Hotels’ presence into Morocco and adds a new destination to Anantara’s international luxury portfolio.

For Bloom Holding, the project represents another step in its international hospitality strategy through collaboration with a global hotel operator.

With an anticipated opening in early 2030, Anantara Retreat Rabat remains a planned development. Its progress will be watched by hospitality stakeholders interested in Morocco’s hotel investment landscape, the evolution of Rabat as a visitor destination and the expansion of international luxury brands across North Africa.
