The leading trade fairs for technical textiles and nonwovens as well as for the processing of textile and flexible materials, Techtextil and Texprocess, will be under new management from January 1, 2023. Sabine Scharrer takes over the role of show director from Michael Jänecke, who is retiring after more than 30 years at Messe Frankfurt.
Sabine Scharrer has been with Messe Frankfurt since 1996 and has worked, among other things, for the company's technical trade fairs abroad and as manager of consumer goods trade fairs, including Ambiente. The trade fair expert has been responsible for the home textiles segment at Heimtextil since 2016. In this position, she was particularly able to further develop product ranges for interior designers and established the Interior.Architecture.Hospitality Library, among other things. She also focused on the increased integration of the textile pre-stage areas of Textile Technology and Fibers and Yarns into Heimtextil. In her new role as head of Techtextil and Texprocess, she would like to further expand the leading trade fairs internationally in cooperation with industry partners and thereby leverage the worldwide synergies of the brand events of Messe Frankfurt in the area of technical textiles and textile technology.
Bettina Bär will take over management of the home textiles segment at Heimtextil from 15 September. She forms a dual leadership with Meike Kern, who successfully manages the home textiles segment at Heimtextil. Bettina Bär has been with Messe Frankfurt since 2012. During this time she acted, among other things, as show director in the segment of consumer goods fairs and most recently as show director at Neonyt; the fair for fashion, sustainability and innovations.
Bettina Bär will bring many years of experience in the trade fair business and in-depth knowledge of the consumer goods, textile and fashion industry and sustainable developments to her new position.

In the future, she would like to advance Heimtextil with new ideas, strengthen relevant market segments, including interior, architecture and hospitality, and promote sustainable solutions. The close cooperation with industry participants as well as associations and exhibitors on an equal footing is fundamental for Bettina Bär. The current challenges of the industry should be tackled together. Bettina Bär forms a strong management duo with Meike Kern, who has been in charge of the home textiles segment for 14 years and has decades of experience at textile trade fairs. With her extensive knowledge of the market, the customers and their needs, she ensures stability as a duo, especially in these socially and economically challenging times. Together they will promote Heimtextil as the most important platform for home and contract textiles worldwide.
“We are delighted to have found the right person to manage Heimtextil, Techtextil and Texprocess. With their experience and personality, the colleagues will certainly make a decisive contribution to the further development of the textile trade fairs and also support our position as the world market leader in the textile sector. With a team that is actively tackling the current challenges in the industry, we are in the best possible position for the future,” confirms Olaf Schmidt, Vice President Textiles & Textile Technologies, Messe Frankfurt.

He established Techtextil and Texprocess as the most important platform for international exchange in the textile industry. Last but not least, he was a valued colleague who will leave a gap in the Messe Frankfurt team.
